Presentations/Workshops [1.5-2 hours]
From Domination to Creativity: Slavery and Freedom in the 21st Century
Using a survivor's personal story, this workshop provides a brief overview of child trafficking and proposes key steps for healing and freedom.

-This presentation was so moving. Your poem brought me to tears. I continue to heal from an eating disorder and you have brought clarity and beauty to the power of support during recovery. Thank you. You set such a wonderfully open environment."
- Student from Macalester College
- "This was an extremely helpful, informative presentation. So often you hear a story through the grapevine/on TV/internet, but having you here brings your story to life in an unbelievably moving way. Thank you." - Student from College of St. Benedict.

* Principles for Community Action in Anti-Trafficking Work
As awareness grows about human trafficking, concerned citizens are rapidly joining anti-trafficking efforts. This workshop will inform activists, students, and community members alike of the ways in which to engage in anti-trafficking work that supports and honors survivors lived experiences. This workshop seeks to decrease the unintended harm that can occur when well-intentioned people jump in to help.

* "Enlightened Witnesses": The Role of Educators with Child Abuse & Trauma Survivors

This workshop will explore the complex role that K-12 teachers play in the lives of children who are abused or dealing with trauma.

* Redefining Safe Spaces: Toward Vulnerability and AuthenticityThis workshop is dedicated to deepening social justice conversations by redefining “safe spaces” as being different from “comfortable spaces.”  Operating from the assumption that discomfort and vulnerability in conversations are necessary for the promotion of social justice ideals, this workshop will explore how we can open ourselves to each other, break free from the fear of shame and judgment, and speak honestly about our experiences.
* Poverty of the Heart: Emotional Wounds in Social Justice Work
Poverty is much more than lacking income. Often times in social justice work we focus on basic needs such as food and housing, only to forget the emotional needs of our heart – to feel loved and connected. In this workshop, we will explore the emotional wounds we witness and experience in social justice work. We will also discuss effective and ineffective ways to address these wounds. Participants will walk away with a greater capacity to empathize with themselves and others.
